August Royal Mile Session
We had a very light turn-out for this month's session: myself on fiddle and smallpipes, Chris on guitar, John (who was called away soon after he arrived) and first-time sessioner Bob on fiddle.
Now, I'm sure you're thinking, "Where was the reminder email?" Um... Yeah, that was kinda my Treo's fault. I've got the calendar program on my laptop to run a script that automatically generates the reminder email a week before the session; I customize it for the specific month and send it on to select Fiddle Club officers, who then forward the reminder to you good people. Well, the calendar entry got mangled in some sync with the Treo, and didn't run the automator program (probably after a sync with my work computer - proving that PalmOS, Windows, and MacOS can't play nice together). But it's a poor blacksmith that entirely blames his tools, so it's a bit my fault for forgetting about it as well. Oops.
We didn't play a lot of tunes this time, but here are those we played together:
Barrowburn reel
Lamb Skinnet (okay, we tried and failed to play it - but it's a good Country Dance tune, so learn it!)
High Road to Linton
Mrs. MacLeod of Raasay's
Miss Drummond of Perth
Stool of Repentance
Mull Rant
Spootiskerry
Willie Davie/Lexy McAskill/Jenny Dang the Weaver/The Ale is Dear/Forest Lodge/High Road to Linton
Brenda Stubbart's
Andy DeJarlis'/Calliope House
Song of the Kelpie
Largo's Fairy Dance
Bob also suggested Boo Baby's Lullaby and The Lass of Kerry Mills, but I didn't know them, and Bob only kinda half-knew them. But I thought I'd mention them anyway.
