Laura Risk Workshop postponed

Christal Prout emailed me to with the following info about the Shenandoah Valley Celtic Connection workshop put on by Scottish Fiddler Laura Risk:

Please remove the information on the Laura Risk/Paddy League workshop and concert.

There are conflicts and we are trying to work them out, but as of now, it's off.

I'll let you know if it's back on.

Thanks, Christal.

As soon as the new date is announced, I'll put the new info up.

February Fiddle Club Session Round-Up

This month's fiddle club meeting ended with a modest session. I think people must have either headed home to catch the tail end of the superbowl, or to take a nap after the great potluck we'd just devoured! The food coma hypothesis also explains the glazed but satisfied looks on many of our faces as we struggled to think of tunes to play. But thanks to the intrepid sessioneers who remained, bringing fiddles, 5-string banjo, cittern, and smallpipes into the mix!

Here are the tunes we played:
Hughie Shorty's/Spootiskerry (VII-8/II-23)
Flowers of Edinburgh/Drover Lads/Mor a Chennaich/unknown (III-2/I-8/I-2/?)
Barrowburn Reel (V-1)
Canaries (XII-?)
Off She Goes/Da Road To Houll (XI-34/VII-1)
Stella's Trip to Kamloops (?)
Auld Rosin the Bow (XII-24)
Muckin o' Geordie's Byre/Stool of Repentance/Sailor's Wife (I-4/I-4/II-13)
Willafjord/Da Faroe Rum (I-28/I-27)
Largo's Fairy Dance (V-1)
Cairny Mount/Highland Laddie (II-1)
Skye Gathering (I-17)
Statten Island/Jackie Tar (IV-5/III-15)
North Highland Dance #4 (?)
Skye Dance #27 (I-3)
Smith's a Gallant Fireman/Braes of Mar/Jenny Dang the Weaver (I-2/I-17/III-2)
Johnny Cope (?)
Mrs. MacLeod of Raasay (III-2)
